What shall I wear for my Personal Training session?

Comfortable, moisture-wickening clothes that don’t restrict you.

I’ve never done sport before or haven’t done any exercise for a while, will this be a problem?

No, you don’t have to worry at all, your comfort and wellbeing are my top priority. We will begin with an initial assessement to gently analyse your current physical condition, fitness level and personal goals. I’ll then make a detailed plan and tailor your sessions to your fitness level, needs and goals, in order to achieve the best outcome possible, without overexerting you. I will also ask how you are feeling on the day and regularly check with you during the session. So you’ll never be pushed beyond what’s right for you; it will be a gentle, tailored approach.

What can I expect from my Personal Training session?

Each session is tailored specifically to you—your body, your goals, and how you’re feeling that day. We’ll start with a gentle warm-up to get you moving comfortably, followed by a personalised combination of strength, mobility, and fitness exercises. I’ll guide you every step of the way, ensuring each movement feels safe, effective, and empowering. We’ll finish with some gentle stretches to ease any tension, soothe your muscles, and leave you feeling relaxed and moving freely as you head home.

How many treatment and sessions will I need?

This all depends on the condition of your muscles and overall fitness, which I’ll carefully assess during your initial consultation and first session or treatment. From there, we’ll tailor your treatment to suit your body’s unique needs and set you up for the best results.

What’s the difference between sports and deep tissue massage?

Sports massage and deep tissue massage both use firm pressure but serve distinct goals. Sports massage targets specific muscle groups used during training and activity to prevent injury, improve flexibility, and speed up recovery. Techniques may include stretching and mobilisation tailored to activity.

Deep tissue massage, meanwhile, is about easing chronic tension and improving posture. It works through muscle layers to release deeply held stress patterns using slower, deliberate strokes. It’s ideal for those with persistent knots or muscular imbalances.

In short, sports massage is proactive and dynamic, supporting movement and performance, while deep tissue massage is restorative, aimed at long-term muscular relief.

Can exercise, personal training and massage help with Menopause or Pre-menopause symptoms?

Yes, absolutely—regular exercise, personal training, and massage can offer powerful support during menopause and pre-menopause. Movement helps balance hormones, boost mood, reduce anxiety, and improve bone density, while tailored fitness plans support strength, mobility, and energy levels.

Massage promotes deep relaxation, eases joint stiffness, improves circulation, and can alleviate sleep disturbances. Combined, these approaches nurture physical and emotional wellbeing, creating a more comfortable and empowering experience through every stage of this transition. Each session is designed to meet your body’s changing needs and help you feel more like yourself again.

Are there any contra-indications to massage?

While massage can offer relief and support for many minor musculoskeletal issues and certain health conditions, there are situations where it may not be appropriate. These are known as contraindications—instances where massage should be avoided or requires special permission.

Massage may be unsuitable in the following cases:

  • Acute inflammation
  • Open wounds
  • Bone fractures
  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
  • Varicose veins
  • Bleeding disorders
  • Infectious skin conditions
  • Cancer (GP consent may be required)
  • Post-operative recovery (GP consent may be required)
  • If you’re feeling unwell, have a virus, or have a high temperature
  • If you’re currently receiving medical treatment for a specific condition, I may require written consent from your GP or consultant before starting massage therapy.

If any of these apply to you or you’re unsure, please don’t hesitate to ask before booking—your health and safety always come first.

Will my private health insurance cover my massage therapy treatment or personal training sessions?

No, unfortunately, the business is not set up for this.
